December 1990 Pt.9 Birth of a Fan Club.
Birth of a Fan Club (to produce a Club-zine\NEWSLETTER).
Taking on the editorial responsibilities, with the feedback, and using the member's participation, I would make a start to mock-up a Layout design.
Name and design the cover page (well it's starting at page one RIGHT?)
The tools at hand; Pen, Pencil, ruler, 'Pritt'-stick (paper glue), Scissors, and a keen eye!
As part of the process, using the UK's standard A4 Paper Size (Inches 8-1/4 x 11-3/4 in = 210 x 297 mm), and not A5 (5.8 × 8.3 in = 148 × 210 mm) Paper Size, would give me the flexibility of printing (photocopying) on one side or two sides, also taking into account the the total page number could be an odd number, or divisible by 2 or 4.
The 3 letter abbreviation A.K.N. stands for 'Anime Kyo News', and the letter\font style was inspired by the Japanese anime magazine 'Anime V', hence the roundness.
You can now see using, 'LETRASET' Rub On Letters and Numbers, to translate the abbreviation of A.K.N. when free-hand just did not look right or a clear font style.
As no doubt you can see, I also borrowed a "super deformed" 'Patlabor" robot (traced from a Freebie sticker out of a Japanese Anime Magazine), this was my way of showing my recent history with Anime, and Manga being Robot model kits from the Mid 80's!
This layout would the give me a square space for "Cover Art" under the logo heading.
